On 4th November, the Mayor of London , Sadiq Khan announced the appointment of Amy Lamé, the former Mayoress of Camden, as London’s first ‘Night Czar’ to champion the capital’s night-time economy. This is a great move for London.
The London night-time economy contributed £17.7bn to £26.3bn in gross value added to the UK economy in 2014, and directly supported 723,000 jobs (1 in 8 jobs in London), including 97,125 restaurant jobs and another 62,150 support and admin jobs. We have already seen how the opening of the night tube has impacted of the night-time economy in terms of feet on the ground. The financial impact will be enormous for the London economy, the UK economy and more importantly the many people that will benefit from being able to find a job and more easily travel to work.

“Fluid’s cleaners are a big part of this night-time economy, making sure the offices, bars and restaurants are clean for the next day’s business. We are glad to see that the Mayor is planning ahead to help look after our army of cleaners, who clean 100’s of contracts in Central London; we are all doing our part to keep London moving!”
